The is largely because the country of Madagascar produces more than 70% of the world's vanilla supply. So most commercial vanilla extracts, desserts, pastries, and all things vanilla use Madagascar vanilla for its ease of access. These beautiful, plump, and oily vanilla beans boast a sweet, classic vanilla smell and aroma. "Buttery" seems to be the most widely accepted term when describing these beans. They are a perfect first bean for first-time at-home extract makers. They work with any spirit and provide a somewhat predictable outcome.
