PowerRIP X is a PostScript Level 3 Compatible RIP and is a complete redesign of the previous PowerRIP 2000 version. It uses Apple's OS X and cups (The Common Unix Printing System) to create a seamless printer integration with the operating system. No more separate program folders and launching of a separate application to process PostScript files. Now all that is necessary is to create a printer in Print Center and choose it in your application. Apple's Print Center/Printer Setup Utility and CUPS auto launch the PowerRIP application, which runs until the file is printed, PowerRIP then goes away until it is needed again. The same RIP can provide support to mutiple printers and a network of OSX users. PowerRIP X provides the additional controls and features needed by the graphic arts professional. PowerRIP X makes use of the CUPS printing architecture and the printer sharing built into Apple's as X 10.2/10.3/10.4. The combination of iProof's custom ICC profiles and printer specific PPDs allows you to print high quality images and smooth crisp type to over 69 Epson color Inkjet printers. The correct color profiles are also AUTOMATICALLY selected at print time, when selecting the media type and resolution.
