Springtails and isopods are right at home in bioactive environments like Terrariums, Vivarium’s, Dart Frog Enclosures. They thrive in the soil substrate, leaf litter, organic mulches, under bark and decaying wood of your bioactive environment. If kept in cup cultures, we use Horticultural Charcoal with Sphagnum Moss (needs to stay damp). For food, we suggest using brewer’s yeast, fish flakes, boiled rice, mushrooms, or powdered springtail and Isopod diets. Feed very light portions at least weekly, maybe more often if needed. It is a good idea to switch up the diet every so often to give the variety of nutrients needed. All these food sources are inexpensive, easy, and the Springtails and Isopods love them.
